The Tazaki Group was founded by the Chairman, Tadayoshi Tazaki – also
known as Taz – who was born in 1943 in Yokohama, Japan.
After graduating high school in Tokyo, he left Japan to go to the UK
where he was offered a place at a public school in Bath. He spent two
terms there studying for ‘A’ and ‘S’ level examinations to achieve his
aim of gaining a place at Cambridge University. In 1967, he graduated
with a BA and an MA in Maths and Economics from Downing College. He was
the first Japanese undergraduate at Downing and has since become a
fellow of that college.
After graduation he worked for a number of years in the City of London
with the Mitsubishi Corporation, COC (USA) and the Sumitomo Corporation.
Then, in 1975, he started his own businesses to pursue his idea to help
and support the growing Japanese business community in the UK. Taz’s
earliest ventures included Japanese restaurants, a karaoke bar, growing
Japanese vegetables and a Japanese school amongst others. In addition
Taz started businesses that focussed on staff recruitment for Japanese
companies, rental accommodation for Japanese expatriates and Japanese
foods for the Japanese community. These three businesses were known as
the Japan Agency & Consultancy (JAC) and were the start of The Tazaki
Group and remain its core businesses today.
Hiromi Tazaki, the Group Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the JAC
Recruitment Group, came to the UK in 1974. Hiromi joined the group in
1981 with the aim of pushing the recruitment and property businesses
forward. The company was reorganised, it extended its arm overseas and
the names JAC Recruitment, JAC Property (later to become JAC Strattons)
and Tazaki Foods were introduced.
Following Taz and Hiromi’s pioneering spirit; the management of the
Group companies all have the same strong principles, commitment and
determination to grow the Group globally. The Group currently operates
in seven countries and there are plans for it to become a truly
worldwide operation.
To this end, the Group is highly focused on excellent customer service
and operates a system of “Freedom and Discipline” with its employees.
